At Black Ram MTB, our core mission is to increase the number of skilled MTB instructors in WA. While coaching riders keeps us busy, it also creates the perfect environment for instructor development. By embracing a hands-on learning approach, we help you identify effective techniques, gain valuable experience, and provide a dynamic proving ground to assess and refine your skills.
We’re not here to replace instructor certifications, but we recognise that many of them offer limited opportunities for growth. Often, these certifications focus on checkbox-driven requirements for insurance (important, but not the full picture!) or narrow down the field to only the highest-performing riders (rather than nurturing high-performing coaches!). Our programs stand out by providing real-world learning experiences, practical application, and continuous feedback to help coaches truly grow and support a riding community —not just collect a certificate.

To be eligible you must have completed our 102 A Solid Base clinic and at least 1 of our 200 level clinics (recommended is to have also completed at least 1 of our 300 level clinics, however this is less applicable if you are only instructing novice riders).

Internships require at least an AusCycling Community Instructor level certification ($50 online, plus their requirements). While our aim is to improve the number and quality of active MTB instructors, we require that you do not provide other public MTB instruction services in WA while undertaking an internship. This is purely to prevent confusion with customers on what they are receiving, and you are encouraged to be actively coaching however that works best for you outside of the internship. Mentoring does not have these requirements as you do not need to be present at our clinics.

If you have a specific requirements or availability, reach out to discuss how we can customise to what works best for you.
